The professor encourages you to think/look in different perspectives, especially when it comes to data. Therefore, there are many sub-topics in our group.
For the students who have their own idea, the professor encourages you to give it a try, even if the topic is far from the existing ones in our group. The lab can manage to provide the necessary resources. In recent years, we have developed new sub-topics such as ambient noise imaging, receiver functions, calculation of sensitivity kernels, and automatic picking technique. The students are expected to be self-motivated and independent.
For the students who have yet determined their research topic, the professor would suggest you conduct one of the two well-developed topics in our group: travel time tomography based on ray tracing or reflection survey. Since there are some previous researches in both topics conducted in our group, the focus of the thesis would mainly on geological interpretation.
